Other considerations when choosing vertical blinds include slat stack and opening options as described in the following paragraphs.
Slat Stack
When you open vertical blinds, there will be a stacking of the slats. It is important to be aware of this fact. On a window that is 108" wide, the stack will be approximately 23" thick. If you don't allow for a wider headrail, a part of the window will be covered. There are two reasons not to compensate for slat stacking. If you don't care about the stack, or if overall space on either side of the window is limited. If appropriate, compensate for slat stack by specifying a wider headrail when sizing the blind.
Opening Options
You have the choice to either one way draw, or split draw so the slats open to opposite sides. There are a number of reasons for opting for one over the other.
